8 Countries Where Your US Dollar Is Worth LESS
Have you ever traveled abroad and found that your dollar was worth less?
It’s a fascinating topic that I often ponder about as I am traveling. I have only been to a few places where my USD is worth less and I always have to remind myself when checking menus and price tags.
On my last trip in Australia everything was great. If I wanted a $20 item it was really only about $14 USD, it made everything feel like it was on sale. However, when I was in London, it was actually reversed. A $20 meal was actually $24 USD.
While we may know the currency conversions in the back of our mind, we already have an anchoring system on the currency we use most so it’s always nicer when you are in a place where your dollar is worth more.
After returning from my last trip, I dove into some research on the strongest currencies in the world and I will say I was surprised to find that the USD fell into a tie for 9th place on the list. I learned that just because the USD is one of the most sought-after countries in international exchanges doesn’t mean it’s the most valuable. I found out that in some places we need $3+ to get one of the local currencies, that’s insane!
What’s even more insane is the least powerful currencies in the world which I will write about in another article later. For now, here are the 8 countries where your US dollar is worth less.
